As of 3:30pm on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving, Food Inc. has had a response of 963 people that agree with their statement: “Let’s thank all the farmers for our Thanksgiving meals!” on their Facebook page (and this is only after being up for 46 minutes!). Here’s three resources for those of us into local food issues: This is NEW (northeast Wisconsin) Food Shed Organization. Their motto is: “Connecting Consumers with Providers of Sustainably Grown and Produced Agricultural Products in Northeastern Wisconsin”. They put out the Farm Fresh Atlas for 5 regions of Wisconsin, an annual publication for local [...] Do you live in the Milwaukee area? You may have heard about the Urban Ecology Center, just south of UW Milwaukee and north of the downtown area. On Saturday, March 12th they’re going to have their 9th annual Local Farmer Open House. Their topics include What is Community Supported Agriculture (CSA)? We’ve all heard some of the arguments for raising herbivores, especially cows, on grass instead of grain.
