Who are we at Blue Egg Farm? A collection of humans, plants, animals, and nature trying to live a simple and artful life with as little impact on the planet as possible. We are not “no-impact” or 100% organic or entirely “off-grid”, which is an admirable goal for those people that are able to achieve it. To live and interact with the larger world means to make some compromises. Is that a cop out? I don’t think so… it’s being realistic about our place in the world. Balance, not separation (even though some days I dream of hiking off into the woods and leaving everything behind!)
Our goals include
1) Trying to produce as much of our own food as possible. This includes gardening and raising animals with an eye for permaculture.
2) Trying to produce as much of our own electricity/heat/energy as possible. Incorporating wind and solar into the future house design are critical, as well as making the structure as well insulated as possible. Getting into biodiesel is a long range goal.
3) Creating art that is true to my calling. I have a feeling only other artists will know what I mean by this.
4) Producing our income from the farm through production of produce, creation of artwork (a future studio/gallery is on the docket), and writing.
So, there’s a lot to do here! We’ll keep you all apprised of our progress here at the farm through this blog. Hopefully others will be inspired to live their dream in the country, too.
Peace & Prosperity to All,
Anne
